Product Overview

The ZL(S)2 surge protective device (Type 1) uses graphite gap technology, purpose-built to discharge high-energy direct lightning strikes. Surpassing ordinary varistors, it can withstand extreme impulse currents (Iimp) of up to 50kA (10/350μs), making it the ideal choice for incoming-line (LPZ0-1) protection. After discharge, it effectively interrupts power-frequency follow current, fundamentally eliminating the risk of "thermal runaway" and fire caused by SPD degradation short-circuits. Its ultra-compact 72mm body integrates the complete Type 1 protection circuit and complies with GB 18802.11 and IEC 61643-11 standards.

Core capabilities

Powerful direct lightning capability: energy discharge capacity and thermal capacity far exceeding ordinary varistors, able to withstand impulse currents of up to 50kA (10/350μs waveform). Intrinsically safe with no fire risk: effectively interrupts power-frequency follow current after discharge, avoiding "thermal runaway" and fire caused by SPD degradation short-circuits. Modular pluggable design: the module is separate from the base, so a failed protection module can be hot-swapped individually without power outage or rewiring. High-performance density design: the complete Type 1 protection circuit is integrated in an ultra-compact 72mm body, delivering big performance in a small size. Product Features

Product Features

Powerful direct lightning capability

Energy discharge capacity and thermal capacity far exceeding ordinary metal oxide varistors (MOV), able to withstand impulse currents (Iimp) of up to 50kA (10/350μs waveform), fully meeting the stringent Type 1 protection requirements for discharging part of the direct lightning strike energy.

Intrinsically safe with no fire risk

Effectively interrupts power-frequency follow current after discharge, fundamentally avoiding "thermal runaway" and fire risks caused by SPD degradation short-circuits, ensuring safe operation of the distribution system.

Modular pluggable design

The module is separate from the base, allowing a failed protection module to be hot-swapped individually without power outage or rewiring, reducing maintenance cost and time.

High-performance density design

The complete protection circuit meeting Type 1 requirements is integrated within an extremely compact 72mm width. With Up values of 275V and 2.5kV, it delivers small size and big performance, similar in size to miniature circuit breakers.

Long service life with slow degradation

Graphite material is arc-resistant and impact-resistant, with stable performance parameters after repeated operations. Expected service life and reliability exceed conventional components, with lower protection costs.

Fast response with low residual voltage

Response time ≤100ns, operating at the very early stage of an overvoltage wavefront rise. With a voltage protection level (Up) as low as 2.5kV, it provides fine protection for equipment such as UPS, servers, and PLCs. Selection Guide
